Multifocal Contact Lenses
Multifocal contact lenses are designed to provide clear vision at all distances, eliminating the need for distance and reading glasses. Some have a bifocal design with two distinct lens powers—one for distance vision and one for near vision—while others have a multifocal design that creates a gradual change in lens power from distance, to intermediate, to near vision.
Rigid Gas Permiable Lenses
RGP lenses are durable lenses matched to the shape of your cornea, allowing for a better fit and a wider range of vision correction. Made from a firmer, more durable semi-permeable plastic, RGP lenses allow oxygen and moisture to circulate freely around the eye so they won’t dry out or fluctuate in shape, as soft lenses tend to do.

Keratoconus is a degenerative eye condition in which the cornea (the transparent part of the eye) becomes thin and cone-shaped, causing blurred and distorted vision. At Wheeler and Kirk, we have optometrists who specialise in identifying and treating keratoconus with custom contact lenses that provide a much higher standard of vision correction than prescription glasses can.
